About the Artist

Welcome to Rainwater Pottery on Whites Creek, where tradition, craftsmanship, and creativity come together in the heart of southern Wayne County, West Virginia.

I am a retired professional with over thirty years of service to the Veterans Administration Hospital. After retiring, I discovered my passion for ceramics and began my journey in 2014. Since then, pottery has become both my craft and my joy.

My studio and shop are nestled in the peaceful hills of Prichard, WV, where I create handmade, functional stoneware and Raku pottery. Every piece I make reflects the rich heritage of artist-craftsmen who have, for centuries, shaped beautiful, everyday objects by hand.

I enjoy every aspect of the process—especially throwing on the wheel and firing the kiln. The transformation of soft clay into finished pottery continues to excite and inspire me. Each piece is made with care, intention, and a deep appreciation for the timeless art of ceramics.

In addition to stoneware vases, lamps, and lidded pots, I also create Raku horsehair pottery. These unique pieces hold special meaning, especially for equestrians. I've had the honor of crafting custom memorial pottery using horsehair sent to me by those who have lost a beloved companion—creating lasting, heartfelt tributes.
